Summary

Job Description

This post is Fixed Term to 26/06/2025. As this post is part time, term time, the salary will be pro rata to the hours worked.

This role is ideal for someone who:

- Loves working with children, especially in the early years (ages 0–5).
- Can support a team and also take initiative independently.
- Is reliable, organised and flexible with time.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervising children during lunch periods to ensure safety and positive interactions.
- Carrying out laundry duties (likely includes cleaning linens, uniforms, or materials used in care/education).
- Collaborating with the Early Years team to support the daily routine and ensure a nurturing environment.

Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children aged 0–5, either in a nursery, pre-school, or early primary setting.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A friendly yet firm manner – essential for working with young children.
- Ability to work independently and take direction from the Head of Establishment.

Working Hours
Monday–Thursday: 10:50 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Friday: 10:50 a.m. – 2:10 p.m.
Flexibility may be needed as determined by the Head.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.

Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
