Our client, a respected educational institution in Plymouth, Devon, is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £105 to £115 per day, depending on experience and qualifications.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs (SEN). As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing individualised support to students, ensuring they have the necessary tools and guidance to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

You will work closely with the teaching staff to develop and implement personalised learning plans tailored to each student's unique needs and abilities. This may involve adapting lesson materials, providing one-on-one support, and facilitating small group activities to promote student engagement and progress.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You will be patient, empathetic, and have a keen understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN. Your ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations will be essential in creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

In addition to providing academic support, you will also assist with the development of students' social and life skills. This may involve helping students navigate social interactions, promoting independence, and encouraging participation in extracurricular activities. Your role will extend beyond the classroom, as you may be required to supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, and on educational trips.

The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related field (e.g. , Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification)
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
- A good understanding of the UK curriculum and SEN strategies
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Strong teamwork abilities and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues
- A positive, proactive, and flexible approach to work
- A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
