Summary

About the Role:
Our client is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join their growing team near Mold, North Wales. As an integral member of our maintenance team, you will play a key role in ensuring their customer’s light commercial and Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) operate efficiently and safely. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of light commercial and HGVs, ensuring they meet both legal requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Inspection & Diagnosis: Conduct thorough inspections of light commercial and HGVs to identify mechanical and electrical issues. Use diagnostic tools and systems to pinpoint faults and plan repairs.
• Repairs & Maintenance: Carry out both scheduled and emergency maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of light commercial and HGVs, including engine work, braking systems, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Compliance: Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with company standards, health and safety regulations, and relevant legislation.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of repairs and services performed, including parts used and time spent.
• Customer Interaction: Occasionally liaise with drivers to understand vehicle issues and ensure work is carried out to a high standard.
• Parts Ordering & Stock Management: Work closely with the parts department to ensure necessary parts are ordered in a timely manner and kept in stock.
• MOT Preparation & Inspections: Prepare HGVs for MOT tests and carry out pre-MOT checks to ensure compliance with road safety and environmental standards.

Skills & Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a light commercial and HGV Mechanic (minimum of 2-3 years).
• Qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent).
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of modern HGV systems (engine, brakes, suspension, electrical, etc.).
• Familiarity with HGV maintenance schedules and legal requirements.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Full UK driving licence (preferably with Category C or CE).
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork.
• Must possess own hand tools and general equipment for servicing and repairing light commercial and HGVs. Larger tools and equipment will be provided.

Desirable:
• Experience working with a variety of light commercial and HGV makes and models.
• Previous experience in a workshop environment.
• Ability to perform welding and fabrication tasks.
• Forklift or other mechanical qualifications would be beneficial but not essential.
