Summary

Speech and Language Therapist Part-Time Opportunity

Seeking a passionate Part-Time Speech & Language Therapist! Join our growing specialist team and make a real impact.

About the role

We are a specialist school dedicated to supporting children with complex SEN needs. While primarily focused on autism, our students typically have a range of additional complex needs that impact their ability to engage, flourish, or even attend traditional school settings.

We opened in 2021 with just 3 students and have grown significantly to 20, with a waiting list of over 40 families. Our aspiration is to grow quickly to help as many families as we can, while carefully maintaining the high quality of our provision and our core values.

As part of our growth, we have expanded to offer a 1:1 provision through our dedicated alternative provision program, which supports children who are currently out of mainstream education.

As our Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide specialist assessments and bespoke therapeutic interventions to students in both our specialist school and our alternative provision program.

This is a vital role focused on delivering tailored 1:1 and small group therapy sessions. A key part of your work will be creating and maintaining concise overview profiles for each student. These profiles will outline their key needs and provide clear recommendations (linked to speech, communication, emotional regulation, and learning access) to help our staff best support students with a range of needs, including ADHD, Autism, and trauma backgrounds.

Person specification

Experience delivering speech and language therapy, ideally with pupils with SEND, ADHD, Autism, or trauma backgrounds.

Holds a relevant speech and language qualification (essential).Ability to adapt methods to meet diverse and complex needs whilst being confident in a range of relevant approaches and therapeutic tools.

Full driving licence and willingness to travel between venues.

Strong interpersonal skills, with patience, empathy, and resilience at the heart of all communication.

Delivery of Specialist Speech and Language Sessions

This role involves planning and delivering engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate therapy sessions tailored to individual student needs, and in accordance with EHCP targets. Delivery of training to all staff will also be essential to ensure that key theories and practice are embedded as part of the overarching therapeutic approach.

Pupil Engagement and Progress Monitoring

Review EHCP targets and developmental needs of each student to set ambitious, achievable goals. Monitor and record student progress, adapting sessions to meet evolving needs and maximise engagement and impact. Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to student development. Maintaining case notes and updating targets weekly, providing regular updates to parents/carers and the wider network as needed. Contribute to team meetings, sharing insights and strategies to support overall development and access to learning and social engagement. Support training of teaching assistants or other staff involved in the delivery of universal strategies and SaLT individualised plans.

Multi-Venue Delivery and Travel

The role requires independent travel between multiple venues to deliver sessions as required. The different venues provide opportunities to adapt sessions and offer bespoke programmes of support to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.

Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students. Be vigilant to safeguarding concerns and follow policies and procedures accordingly.
