Summary

Job Description

Working in a hybrid style, based at home and in the office, you will work full time, 37 hours per week.

Requirements

You will have relevant degree or equivalent qualification and professional qualification in relevant area.

Responsibilities

You will lead the management and development of the external environment including the council land and street scape. Deliver on efficient and effective environmental operations and policy development covering the areas of street cleaning/litter uplift, landscape maintenance and development of open space, street scape, parks, cemeteries and other specific areas such as the beach, rapid response, play, forestry and arboriculture, graffiti removal, etc. Overall responsibility for biodiversity, access and related legislation

The Individual

You will have relevant experience as an Environmental Management Professional, experience of preparing, planning and implementing environmental strategies, experience of project management, preparing and presenting reports and performance management information, working in a multi-discipline setting. You will have experience of budget management, monitoring, forecasting and assessment along with experience of analysing/diagnosing business problems and providing solutions.

You will have detailed knowledge of relevant current and forthcoming environmental initiatives, technologies, developments and legislative environment, skills in interpreting contract data to assist in financial projections and operational efficiencies and experience of managing front line/logistically-based services.

You will have excellent communication skills, oral and written, strong leadership skills, excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to influence decision makers, network, and resolve conflicts, and with highly developed oral, written and presentation skills.

You will have the ability to motivate staff, be innovative strategic practitioner with creative and constructive approach to problem solving, capable of taking and exercising responsibility with strong negotiation skills.

You will have the ability to self-manage and work in a context of high expectations within tight deadlines, excellent organisational and IT skills, with the ability to anticipate and forward plan to meet the demands of the service, developing options appraisals underpinned by strong tactical planning approaches.

You will be prepared to work hours according to operational needs.
