Summary
The role involves leading a team of multi professionals to deliver National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Delivery Network (RDN) Portfolio studies across varied health and care settings. As team manager you willbe responsible fora team of regionally based, flexible, multi-disciplinary staff who are deployed to support the delivery of NIHR RDN portfolio studies across a range of health and care specialties and settings. As team leader you willbe responsible forthe planning,developmentand implementation of the NIHR RDN portfolio that reflects the community, with a focus on the health and social care issues of the population within the region.
This post has a dual function and the post holder will either manage and lead research delivery and/ or research support for wider care settings dependent upon regional need. This will include (but not limited to) delegation, supervision, provision of education and support, appraisals.
The role will work alongside different professions from multiple organisations involved in health and care research and will be an integral part of the Agile Research Delivery Team. The Team Manager willbe responsible fordelivering the NIHR ENRICH Network and providing an enhanced study support offering for social and wider care settings. The post holder will work closely with the Agile Research Delivery Team Manager(s)and be accountable to the Agile Research Delivery Team Senior (Clinical) Manager
1. Support the strategic development of the Agile Research Delivery Team alongside senior leadership post holders in the Regional RDN (RRDN)
1. Contribute to national initiatives underpinning the continued development of the RDN and specifically the Agile Research Delivery Team

Main Duties & Responsibilities
STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP
1. Support the strategic development of the Agile Research Delivery Team alongside senior leadership post holders in the Regional RDN (RRDN)
1. Lead and coordinate the delivery of the local ENRICH network, including long term development and implementation plans.
1. Reinforce new and innovative ways to increase research capacity and capability via the Agile Research Delivery Service
1. Motivate and inspire teams by being a visible leader and acting as a role model for others
BUSINESS PLANNING
1. Contribute to Agile Research Delivery Team aspects of RRDN business planning and management.
1. Support the planning and delivery of the Agile Research Delivery Team research portfolio for RRDN
1. Plan,coordinateand promote the NIHR RDN portfolio – that will involve the development and delivery of both short- and long-term plans;identifyingand managing resources,setting realistictime framesfor completion,monitoringprogress, report writing andidentifyinglessons learnt
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
1. The post holder will provide operational management and leadership for a team of regionally based, flexible,multi-disciplinarystaff who can be deployed to support the delivery of NIHR RDN portfolio studies across a range of health and care specialties and settings.
1. Working closely with the RRDN team and specifically the Agile Research Delivery Team Senior (Clinical) Manager, provide management of local feasibility assessments and reviews for studies, includingidentifyingpotential sites/investigators that could conduct the study,assessthe available research resources including skills, facilities andequipmentand provide robust recruitment goals.
1. Working closely with the stakeholders and senior leaders across settings
1. Provide all line management duties and performance related activities for those posts listed as direct reports, with adherence to host policies and procedures. Lead on the contractual arrangements for research delivery staff deployed across NHS and wider health and care settings,establishingappropriate channelsformaintainingprofessional accountability
1. Be responsible forthe management of multiple diverse research project information systems and complex clinical research data ensuring this is of a high quality and providedin a timely manner
1. In collaboration with senior leadership, provide local RRDN consideration of geographical spread of the Agile Research Delivery Team
1. Ensure patient,carerand public impact on research delivery, includingthrough the use ofdigital tools such as Be Part of Research and Join Dementia Research.
1. Regularlymonitorand review the workload of the team to ensure it is manageable and that there is a reasonable delegation of work
1. Supporting the team tomaintainclinical standards and the team member’s individual personal professional development
1. In line with the NMC code of conduct, being participant focussed by acting as an advocate for research participants, duty of care and ensuring participant safety and providing a positive research experience
SERVICE IMPROVEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
1. Active engagement in continuous improvement across the RRDN and promote feedback into the system in real time
1. Contribute to local and national policy development in relation to the Agile Research Delivery Service. They will provide regional leadership and responsibility for consistent interpretation and implementation of relevant policy
1. The Agile Research Delivery Team Manager will work with RRDN colleagues to support and embed a consistent approach to ensuring staff membershave the opportunity toaccess and undertake relevant learning and development opportunities
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
1. Support the provision of a consistent Agile Research Delivery Service
1. Ensure that all Agile Research deliverycomplies withrelevant national and international regulations/policy andfacilitateregulatory inspections as appropriate
1. Lead and contribute to audits and monitoring of the Agile Research Delivery Service performance and specific projects asrequired
1. Using NIHR RDN tools, functions, support the Agile Research Delivery Team Senior (Clinical) Manager in providing regular ARDT performance updates for the relevant senior leadership groups within the RRDN geography
LIFE SCIENCES INDUSTRY
1. Actively support the management and delivery of the Agile Research Delivery Team regional contribution to studies of national importance including those that are part of the Active National Delivery Service
1. Where required, ensure that RRDN Services provided to the Life Sciences Industry, are provided consistently, within the requiredtimeframesand to ahigh qualitystandard and in line withidentifiednational RDN requirements
1. Champion RDN Life Science Industry research and the importance and contribution of industry to NHS and social care
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for Agile Research Delivery Team budget within designated location/hub.
1. Support the Agile Research Delivery Senior Team Manager in overseeing the effectivefinancial managementof any budgetallocatedto the Service and associated functions
1. Take operational responsibility for the effective utilisation and allocation of allappropriate physicaland human resources within the Agile Research Delivery team including day to day management of expenditure ensuring value for money and implementing cost containment strategies as appropriate
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
1. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and wellbeing, encouraging team members to seek out opportunities for innovation
1. Support education events to ensure staff receiveappropriate trainingto support
research delivery
1. Develop and implement the use of innovative models of research delivery and digital tools to support associated work programmes
1. Promote the RDN as a learning organisation that uses the knowledge and skills of all members to improve performance and generate helpful and shared outputs andcontribute to service improvement programmes
1. Support national training programmes, led by the NIHR RDN Coordinating Centre, asrequired.
COMMUNICATION & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT (NHS AND NON-NHS)
1. Maintain working relationships with the relevant stakeholders and partners, communicating relevant information relating to the Agile Research Delivery Service
1. The postholder mustdemonstrategood communicationand negotiation skills, be an effective people manager and have developed interpersonal skills to enable influencing and change management
1. Provide customer focusedexpertiseand experience to enhance research delivery
1. Working with RRDN Stakeholder and Engagement colleagues, contribute to building visible relationships with research naive sites and settings enabling reach andfacilitatingequity of access
1. Undertake presentations to staff and stakeholder groups
ENSURING PATIENT, CARER AND PUBLIC INFORM AND INFLUENCE DELIVERY OF RDN STRATEGY
1. Act as a champion for patients,carersand the public, ensuring that their interests are meaningfully incorporated into the development and delivery of the RDN and RRDN
1. Supporting the embedding of patient,carerand public involvement within the RRDN at allappropriate levelsof decision making
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
1. Working with the RRDN Study Support Service and staff responsible for Research Support for Wider Care Settings to ensure all necessary contracts or agreements are in place before the commencement of research delivery activities.
