Summary

Ocean Import Team Leader - Glasgow
Hours: Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:30 (1 hour lunch)
Location: Hillington, Glasgow (1 day WFH after initial training)

Are you an experienced ocean freight professional ready to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a proactive and driven Ocean Import Team Leader to join our dynamic logistics operation in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team, shape processes, and make a real impact within a fast-paced, global supply chain environment. The salary for this role is depending on relevant experience.

This permanent job would also offer the opportunity for someone who is working within freight/logistics, who is looking to progress into a management role.

About the Role

As the Ocean Import Team Leader, you'll be at the heart of our freight operations supporting your team, ensuring smooth end-to-end shipment handling, and driving excellence across the department. You'll use your industry expertise to enhance workflows, maintain compliance, and deliver outstanding service to our partners and customers.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading, coaching, and motivating a high-performing ocean import team.

  • Overseeing day-to-day ocean freight activities to ensure accurate and timely processing.

  • Working closely with carriers, agents, customs, and internal departments to keep operations running seamlessly.

  • Ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations and internal policies.

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Handling escalations and resolving operational issues swiftly.

  • Reporting on KPIs, team performance, and operational metrics.

  • Supporting ongoing development and training for team members.

What We're Looking For
  • Strong background in ocean freight or logistics operations.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an advantage.

  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping, customs procedures, and freight documentation.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Confident user of Microsoft Office and logistics systems.

  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
