Salary: £23,000 - £24,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm (with a 30-minute lunch break) Friday: 8:00am - 1:00pm
Our client, who is a leading global manufacturer, is seeking a Trainee Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. Package:
• Performance-based bonus: Paid quarterly, typically ?1,000 - ?1,500 per year
• Pension Contributions: In line with auto-enrolment (5% employee, 4% employer). A discretionary annual pension bonus of up to an additional 11%, subject to company performance.
• Life Insurance: Up to 4x pensionable salary
• Holiday Allowance: 33 days per year (including bank holidays). Additional days with service (2 extra days after 5 years, 3 extra days after 10 years).
Overall Job Purpose:
• To provide essential support in the administration of purchase and sales ledgers, bank payments, and various other accounting tasks, contributing to the smooth running of the finance department
• As a Trainee Accounts Assistant, your duties will evolve as you gain experience. Initially, you will be responsible for:
• Sales and Purchase Ledger management
• Assisting with Works/Test/Engineering labour oversight and corrections on a monthly basis
• Supporting with bank payments and reconciliations
• General accounting administration and ad-hoc duties as required
Skills & Experience
• Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Experience in a small accounts office is an advantage (HR, payroll, bookkeeping, cash control, banking), but not essential
• On-the-job training will be provided, so a willingness to learn is key
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Previous experience with accounting software (e.g., SB Client or Dynamics 365) is advantageous but not essential
• Strong Microsoft knowledge, especially Word and Excel (training provided if needed)
• Basic awareness of accounting processes
