Job Description
Baxterstorey is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our team in Barrow-in-Furness, United Kingdom. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our kitchen operations, ensuring a smooth workflow for our culinary team.
- Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to maintain high hygiene standards
- Dealing with deliveries bringing in stock and putting it away.
- Operate dishwashing machines and handle manual washing of pots, pans, and other kitchen items
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen staff
- Organise and store kitchen supplies and equipment in their designated areas
- Empty and clean waste bins, ensuring proper disposal of rubbish
- Support the kitchen team by replenishing supplies and assisting with deliveries
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards
- Maintain a clean and tidy kitchen environment throughout the shift
- Report any faulty equipment or maintenance issues to the supervisor
- Assist with additional kitchen duties as required
Qualifications
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and safe handling of cleaning chemicals
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
- Understanding of basic food hygiene and safety practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Previous experience in a similar role or kitchen environment is desirable but not essential
- Willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen staff and management
