Summary
Do you want to make a real difference every single day? At Mencap, we’re looking for caring and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our friendly team in Norwich.
The people you’ll be supporting enjoy a wide range of activities both inside and outside of their home. One gentleman is a big train enthusiast and loves visiting the local station to watch them go by. They all enjoy spending time in the community, going for walks, shopping trips and the occasional boat trip. When they’re at home, they like to relax in the garden, listen to music and celebrate special occasions with a party. They’re looking for someone who can bring patience and positivity, and who will actively join in with their hobbies.
As a Support Worker, you’ll be helping each person to live as independently as possible while providing the right level of support when needed. This includes personal care, some manual handling, administering medication, following Positive Behaviour Support plans and assisting with PEG feeding. Don’t worry if you haven’t done some of these tasks before as full training will be provided. You’ll also be supporting the individuals to take part in the activities they enjoy and to be active members of their community.
Our shift patterns vary between 7:00am and 9:00pm/10:00pm, and we can offer both full-time and part-time contracts. Sleep-ins and occasional weekend shifts are part of the role, and we ask for a flexible approach so that we can provide the best possible support to the people in our care.
In return, you’ll receive opportunities to develop your skills and progress in your career, and the support of a dedicated team that values your contribution. Working with Mencap means being part of something special — a role where you can truly make a difference and help people to live happy, fulfilled lives.
If you’re kind, patient and passionate about helping others, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and start your journey with Mencap, where every day brings something new and every moment makes a difference.
