Summary
Maths Teacher Training
Want to train as a Maths Teacher on a salaried route? Start in January, earn while you learn, and work towards QTS at a supportive school.
*** Maths Teacher Training
*** January 2026 start – Temp to Perm
*** £95 - £110 per day
*** ‘Good’ secondary school, Central Birmingham
*** Fully funded Maths Teacher Training opportunity
What you’ll do:
Begin as a Maths Academic Coach, supporting KS3 and KS4. Lead small groups, deliver short 1:1 tuition and assist with lesson preparation. Observe expert teachers, then take on parts of lessons before moving to your own classes with close mentoring. Attend weekly training, build subject pedagogy and behaviour routines, and track pupil progress.
Who you are:
Methodical, clear in your explanations and confident with maths to GCSE. You plan carefully, act on feedback and keep lessons structured and purposeful.
Requirements
- Degree – 2:2 or above.
- Communication – Precise written and spoken English.
- Enhanced DBS – Existing or willing to obtain.
- Desire to work in education/with children – Strong motivation to qualify as a Maths Teacher.
- Experience working with children – Tutoring, mentoring or school experience is desirable but not essential.
The School:
This ‘Good’ Central Birmingham secondary has calm corridors, consistent behaviour routines and a well-sequenced maths curriculum. The department co-plans, shares model solutions and uses low-stakes checks to pinpoint gaps. Trainees receive a clear induction, a trained mentor, release time for professional studies and regular coaching with actionable targets. Intervention periods and past-paper item banks are scheduled, so your teaching practice links directly to pupil progress. Strong outcomes in maths and a stable leadership team provide a solid path from temp to a permanent ECT post.
How to Apply
Email your CV and confirm January availability and DBS status. Add two referees if possible. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a short phone screen and in-school observation. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.
Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
