Summary

ROLE PURPOSE / SUMMARY The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System comprises the Integrated Care Board (ICB), which is the statutory body for the NHS, and the Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), which is a committee of the ICB, and brings together key health, care, community and voluntary sector organisations across the area. The ICS has a bold ambition to deliver improved outcomes for our 1.2m population through our four Alliances, and we are placing clinical and professional leadership and the voice of our residents at the heart of realizing this ambition. This fixed term role is available as an internal secondment until end of March 2026. It has been created with funding from the Cancer Alliance to support early cancer diagnosis by sharing updated pathways, referral processes, and best practice examples with primary care networks (PCNs). The postholder will support cancer screening up take especially among high-inequality groups drive awareness campaigns - engaging with patient groups, voluntary sectors, and charities. Responsibilities include ensuring timely information cascade to PCNs, developing and promoting educational sessions for non-clinical staff. The role requires close collaboration with the Cancer Alliance, primary care leads, and communications teams. This role will be hosted in, and also assist with broader NHS Mid and South Essex communications team priorities - focused on our patients, staff and wider communities alongside supporting the development of excellent relationships with partners and stakeholders locally, regionally and nationally. KEY DELIVERABLES Work with the ICB cancer programme team to develop plans for engagement promoting earlier diagnosis and prevention agendas in cancer for MSE to primary care and the public. Develop a communications schedule utilising different social media channels and existing resources to promote signs and symptoms of cancer to the public and patients. Work with the cancer alliance to provide insights and experience for the development of central resources for patients available to all ICBs. Provide support and ensure that projects meet key milestones and goals against the set timescales. Be the link between the cancer programme and the communications team. Lead work to provide assurance to cancer steward and others on progress Link with colleagues across the system with shared agendas, and nurture and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Be responsible for decisions made during the course of duties, seeking guidance and escalating issues where appropriate. Manage staff where appropriate. Be responsible for any budgets and/or income streams of delivery. Demonstrate and deliver business acumen in their area of responsibility ensuring value for money, understanding the objectives of the ICB Able to competently use ICB owned digital platforms such as the Primary Care Hub (SharePoint) and Engagement HQ (Virtual Views) to support any wider communications and engagement needs.
