Introduction
The London Borough of Waltham Forest is seeking a Kennels / Transport Officer (SC4) to join the Neighbourhoods & Environment team. This temporary role provides the opportunity to work directly with the Council’s kennelling facility, ensuring the welfare and safe transportation of dogs in our care.

The Role
As a Kennels / Transport Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all dogs housed at the Council’s kennelling facility are properly cared for and remain in good health.

Key Responsibilities
Cleanse kennels and associated areas to maintain high standards of hygiene.

Provide suitable food, water, bedding, and exercise for dogs.

Monitor the health and wellbeing of dogs, arranging veterinary care when required.

Ensure dogs have appropriate sleeping arrangements and comfort.

Safely transport dogs as required, following Council procedures.

About You
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience in animal care, ideally within kennels or similar environments.

Understands dog welfare and can recognise signs of ill health.

Is practical, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Is confident handling dogs of varying sizes and temperaments.

Is flexible and committed to maintaining high standards of care.
