As an Associate Security/Fraud Risk Manager, you'll support Working Age Services by identifying and managing fraud and security risks from the start of service design. You'll work with feature teams and stakeholders to analyse risks, escalate vulnerabilities, and guide secure, user-focused decisions. You'll also contribute to strategic fraud efforts and ensure alignment with the Counter Fraud Strategy. Security Check clearance is required.

As an Associate Security/Fraud Risk Manager, you'll help reduce fraud and error in Working Age Services, protecting public funds and supporting some of the most vulnerable people in society. This is a non-technical role, but it plays a key part in shaping secure, user-focused services.

You'll work closely with feature teams and stakeholders to identify and manage fraud and security risks, making sure these are built into service design from the start. You'll support risk analysis, escalate vulnerabilities, and help others take ownership of their risks. Your insights will guide decisions that keep services safe for claimants, agents, and the Department.

Alongside day-to-day risk work, you'll contribute to strategic fraud and security efforts, research emerging threats, and ensure alignment with the Counter Fraud Strategy. You'll also help shape features and processes to reduce fraud and error.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Analytical Thinking & Problem Solving - You can analyse complex problems, identify root causes, and recommend pragmatic, workable solutions. You work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective outcomes.
  • Fraud & Security Awareness - You understand the unique fraud and security challenges of delivering digital services, including digital identity, authentication, and data protection principles.
  • Policy & Legal Expertise - You have knowledge of Government policy and criminal law frameworks such as Nexus, Non-Repudiation, CPIA, and PACE, and can apply this understanding to ensure compliance and support investigations. You may also hold relevant accreditations such as PINS or equivalent.
  • Compliance & Governance - You can develop policy and ensure legal and regulatory compliance, with a strong understanding of governance frameworks and audit requirements.
  • Digital & Agile Awareness - You understand agile methodologies and digital delivery practices, and can assess the implications of emerging technologies for service design, delivery, and security.
  • Risk Management - You can identify, assess, and manage risks effectively, ensuring they are mitigated and communicated appropriately across stakeholders.
