Residential Support Workers needed in Eastbourne, East Sussex

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping young people build independence, stability, and confidence. Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting young people to make choices, build independence, and live the lives they aspire to. • Assisting with personal care, medication administration, and health-related tasks where required. • Helping residents maintain a safe and comfortable home environment, including cooking, cleaning, and shopping. • Enabling access to community resources, appointments, education, and meaningful activities. • Encouraging skill development and supporting progress toward goals outlined in individual support plans. • Always maintaining professionalism, treating every young person with dignity, respect, and compassion. • Keeping accurate records and ensuring all safeguarding and organisational procedures are followed. • Participating in training, team meetings, and supervision to continually develop your skills. • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents, colleagues, and visitors. • Working collaboratively within a supportive team and completing any additional duties required by management.

Essential Requirements:

• A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for supporting individuals with complex needs. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt to each young person's communication style. • An understanding of the rights of individuals living in supported accommodation. • Sensitivity and professionalism when delivering personal care. • Flexibility, punctuality, and reliability when working a variety of shifts. • Confidence in using initiative, especially during challenging or emergency situations. • Ability to manage basic finances and maintain clear, accurate documentation. • An understanding of safeguarding, health & safety, equality, and diversity. • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. • Capability and willingness to complete domestic tasks and prepare meals.

Desirable Requirements:

• Creativity and innovation when supporting young people. • Shared interests or hobbies that help build rapport. • Knowledge of the Eastbourne or East Sussex area. • A full UK driving licence. • IT literacy. • Willingness to work fully in line with care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments. • Flexibility with hours
