We are an Approved Specialist Tuition Partner for Surrey Local Authority
Are you patient, creative, and able to build trust with children who find school overwhelming?
We are looking for Primary SEN Tutors to support learners in the Redhill area who are currently unable to fully access school due to ASD, ADHD, PDA, dyslexia, anxiety or emotional needs.
These pupils are working below age-related expectations (around Y2/Y3) and need gentle, relationship-focused support to re-engage with learning. The emphasis is connection first, learning second.
You may work with:
- Pupils in school (1:1 setting)
- Pupils at home
Whether at school or at home, the pupils require patient confidence building, positive reinforcement, and hands-on, practical learning rather than worksheets alone.
What You'll Do
- Deliver 1:1, in-person tuition during school hours
- Use creative engagement strategies (crafts, games, outdoor learning)
- Support learners who may shut down or freeze when tasks feel difficult
- Provide simple, accessible learning activities matched to their level
- Help rebuild emotional safety, trust, confidence and routine
- Communicate regularly with parents and professionals
- Record clear session notes and learner progress
Who We're Looking For
You do not need to be a formal teacher - we welcome:
- Teachers / Tutors
- SEN LSAs / Teaching Assistants
- Learning Mentors
- Therapeutic play / outdoor learning backgrounds
We're looking for:
- Experience with ASD, ADHD, PDA or anxiety
- A calm, reassuring and encouraging approach
- Ability to adapt learning to where the child is, not where they "should be"
- Confidence supporting learners who disengage or avoid tasks
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Hours & Flexibility
- Typically 6-30 hours per week per pupil
- Sessions run between 9am-3pm (no evenings/weekends)
- You can take on as many or as few pupils as suits your schedule
Why Work With Us
- We are official Local Authority partners for Surrey → consistent referrals
- You choose your workload
- You directly change a child's experience of education
- Supportive team, guidance, and safeguarding framework
