Job Advert SEN Tutor (Macclesfield)

Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced SEN Tutors in and around Macclesfield to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition in Maths and English from KS1 through to KS4.

This is a part-time, flexible role (approx. 25 hours per week, Monday and Friday between 9am and 3pm) an excellent opportunity for qualified teachers looking to return to teaching, or retired teachers who want to continue supporting children in education.

Role Details:

Location: Macclesfield and surrounding areas (local travel required)

Hours: Approx. 25 per week, Monday to Friday (flexible within 9am and 3pm)

Pay: GBP27GBP30 per hour, depending on experience

Contract: Ongoing, part-time, flexible

Subjects: Maths and English (KS1 and KS4, depending on tutor preference)

Start date: ASAP

Requirements:

Strong SEN experience (minimum 2 years preferred) essential

Experience teaching/tutoring within the UK curriculum

QTS desirable (but not essential if strong SEN background)

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Ability to travel across Macclesfield and surrounding areas

Patient, empathetic, and caring approach to supporting vulnerable pupils

Confident delivering both Maths and English

Further Information:

This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the education of vulnerable children, many with SEN. You will deliver tailored 1:1 sessions, helping pupils develop confidence, structure, and academic skills through a supportive and engaging approach.

A flexible, therapeutic teaching style is often required to re-engage pupils with learning. Tutors will also be expected to complete weekly progress reports to track development and outcomes.
