About the Role
Our client is seeking a Children and Family Worker to join their Children in Care Teams. This role plays a vital part in supporting children, young people, parents, and carers to ensure children are safely cared for within their family environment. The position involves direct work with families, including supervision of family time/contact, and supporting families experiencing challenges.
This is an office-based role ,with travel required across the local area.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with parents, carers, and children on a one-to-one or group basis in line with support plans
Prioritise the welfare and safety of children at all times
Observe, record and report progress, concerns, and recommendations to colleagues and social workers
Raise safeguarding concerns following correct procedures
Support service users to build positive relationships, develop confidence and maintain emotional stability
Transport and escort children, young people, and adults as required
Maintain accurate case records in line with policies and data standards
Work collaboratively with internal teams, statutory partners, and community services
Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings and reviews
Participate in training, supervision, and continued professional development
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, confidentiality, IT security and data protection policies
Promote and uphold equality, diversity, and dignity at work principles
Essential Requirements
Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and/or families in difficulty
Experience supervising contact between children and families
Experience with outreach and one-to-one family support
Understanding of child development and safeguarding processes
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work sensitively and effectively with families in crisis
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in relevant field
Ability to work flexibly and manage own workload
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
