Summary

Post Ref: CC636

Please note: Internal at risk or redeployee applicants will be seen in the first instance.

The SEND and Alternative Provision strategy 2025-2030 outlines the vision and goal to ensure children and young people with SEND to live fuller lives. Part of this strategy is to develop and meet strategic goals, one being an inclusive mainstream education. The approach includes the three tier Alternative Provision model, where children are supported across a continuum from their local mainstream school, support through Alternative Provision placements and specialist Alternative Provision settings. This role supports Calderdale’s wider inclusion strategy and is vital in improving outcomes for learners in non-mainstream settings, working in partnership with schools, social care, providers, and other agencies.

The Alternative Provision Quality Assurance Officer will play a key role in ensuring that alternative education providers commissioned by Calderdale Local Authority deliver high-quality, safe, inclusive, and effective learning experiences for vulnerable learners. You will monitor the quality of education, safeguarding standards, and compliance with national expectations across a range of Alternative Provision (AP) settings, ensuring they meet the needs of children and young people at risk of exclusion, disengagement, or with complex needs.

If you have experience of working within Alternative Provision and have the knowledge and understanding of the Alternative Provision statutory guidance, we would welcome your application. The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level and hold a valid driver’s licence.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
