We are seeking a dedicated Team Manager to take on a vital leadership role in transforming our curriculum offer. You will lead a team of curriculum specialists, ensuring the service delivers high-quality adult learning programmes that empower learners and meet the needs of our residents and stakeholders.
You'll be responsible for ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment across a wide range of programmes, supporting diverse groups of learners to achieve positive outcomes and progress to their next steps.
Salary: £48,226 to £51,356 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)
Location: County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ or County Hall North, Parkside, Chart Way, Horsham, RH12 1XH. Base location will be agreed with the successful candidate.
Interview Date: Thursday 04 December 2025
Regular attendance at your base location will also be necessary. There will be opportunities for remote work, with final arrangements to be confirmed with the successful candidate.
You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.
About the Job
With a broad curriculum and a wide range of responsibilities, any given day in this role will likely feel quite different from the next! There are some key responsibilities in this role, including:
- Leading the design, planning, and implementation of a diverse, inclusive, and responsive adult learning curriculum.
- Providing effective leadership to a team of Curriculum Leads, who in turn manage teams of tutors delivering courses in English, Mathematics, Independent Living, Family Learning, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Customer Service, and Employability Skills.
- Serving as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for WSCC ALS, ensuring compliance with statutory safeguarding duties and West Sussex County Council policies.
- Ensuring readiness for Ofsted inspections and lead on post-inspection action planning.
- Working to ensure the programme is financially sustainable and maximising funding and income.
- Collaborating closely with colleagues across the service, providing support in the delivery of essential service functions.
- Engaging, and growing partnerships, with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent in education, skills, or a related discipline
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training)
- Designated Safeguarding Lead, Level 3 (or willingness to obtain DSL certification upon appointment)
- Proven ability to lead quality improvement initiatives across diverse curriculum areas, with an emphasis on learner outcomes and future pathways.
- Experience in strategic leadership for developing and implementing learning programs that achieve defined outcomes, while promoting innovation and enhancing performance.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, the ability to build effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders, and experience in managing small teams to deliver sustainable, high-quality programmes.
