Summary

Do you have experience in teaching and working within the field of Chemistry? Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of Scientists, Laboratory Technicians, Chemical Engineers, and other professionals in this exciting industry?

We are looking for an experienced Chemistry lecturer or a suitable trainee teacher who can ignite curiosity and ambition in our students.

Our Science courses offer students the chance to explore key principles of Chemistry through both theoretical and practical approaches, preparing them for careers in research, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and beyond. We work closely with employers to design and deliver a curriculum that reflects industry needs. The candidate will be delivering on the T Level Science Programme. For the right candidate, we can provide full teacher training and ongoing support.

The suitable candidate will:

  • Use current professional, academic, or vocational experience to deliver engaging and aspirational learning opportunities that motivate students.
  • Promote high levels of student ambition, leading to positive progression and excellent employer satisfaction.
  • Deliver high-quality, innovative teaching across all levels.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and students to overcome barriers and ensure learners achieve their full potential.
  • Hold a degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Ideally have experience in laboratory work, chemical analysis, or applied science sectors.

Desirable: Experience in delivering A-Level Chemistry, BTEC Applied Science, or similar qualifications.

Taking Teaching Further

The College actively engages with the Education & Training Foundation's Taking Teaching Further scheme to recruit industry professionals to teach within Further Education.

As industry professionals offer our students industry experience and insight we support our unqualified teachers to learn 'on the job'. You will be given full support throughout your development to fully qualified teacher status. Whilst in employment you would be enrolled onto the Level 3 Award in Education and Training. After completion you can choose to move be onto our Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training qualification. This is a great way for experienced professionals to achieve a recognised teaching qualification whilst in employment.
