L3 Teaching Assistant Special (Pupil Hygiene, Health and Hydro Team)
Fixed term in the first instance until 31st August 2026
Grade 7: £30,024-£32,061 (Full time salary)
The salary for this role is pro rata the above, and is for 32.5 hrs (current payscale as of 02.09.2025)
Context:
The pupil Hygiene, Health and Hydro Team plays a key part in supporting the personal and health care needs of pupils across the school. The team is also instrumental in supporting hydrotherapy sessions by changing pupils and supporting poolside. Under the guidance of the Assistant Headteacher- Lucy Morgan, the team takes an active role in ensuring that
pupils have their personal, health and hydrotherapy needs met. The role also involves observing pupils and ensuring that appropriate systems are used to track, monitor and evaluate pupil progress/needs. Excellent teamwork, high standards and a capacity to work hard is at the core of the team's success. Members of the team must be flexible with the
ability, determination and commitment to work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to further the strategic direction of the school.
What are the expectations of the team:
● Working under the overall supervision of the Assistant Headteacher.
● To be responsible, on a day to day basis, for ensuring that pupils personal, health and hydrotherapy needs are met. This will involve supporting pupils aged 3-19 years old
with severe or profound and complex learning difficulties including pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
● Follow a timetable, as required.
● Monitor and provide for general care, safety and welfare of pupils, including tasks connected with their personal (hygiene) and health care needs.
● Conduct observations e.g. when poolside and record where necessary
● The team will consist of 3 staff who will be responsible for supporting the hygiene, health and hydro needs of pupils.
● The team will support updates in relation to hygiene, health and hydro needs.
● The team will be responsible to ensure all policies and procedures are in place
● A positive mind-set and a willingness to make a difference/impact
● Members of the team need to have a passion for supporting ALL pupils' hygiene, health and hydro needs. A real commitment to making a difference to pupil development is key
● The team that is formed will be based in the physio room. Each class will also have a radio to call for support outside of the timetable
● The team will be responsible for all informing the business manager if stocks are required e.g. PPE
● To be trained in appropriate health procedures e.g. administering medication and feeds
● Support transitions periods such as lunch and break times as directed
● To undertake any training deemed appropriate for the role e.g. people handling
● To support and implement individual health care plans (iHCPs)
This position has a requirement for an Enhanced DBS Check
