The Opportunity
An established, boutique construction consultancy is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer/Consultant to join its expanding fire division. The business operates primarily in London and the Southeast and delivers high-profile, technically complex projects across commercial, residential, and heritage sectors.
This is a visible and hands-on role, offering responsibility for leading fire strategy work, client engagement, and mentoring junior staff. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative and flexible team, working alongside project coordinators and a network of specialist consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, review, and delivery of fire strategies from RIBA Stage 1 through Stage 4.
- Undertake fire risk assessments and audits above standard FRA level.
- Attend client meetings, workshops, and project site visits.
- Provide technical input on façade remediation, external wall systems, and building safety compliance.
- Collaborate with project coordinators, sub-consultants, and internal teams.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of the fire engineering function.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation in line with professional and quality standards.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Experience preparing and reviewing fire strategies for complex projects.
- Strong report-writing skills and confident client-facing abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with small teams or coordinating sub-consultants.
- Flexible approach to hybrid working, ideally located within the M25 area.
Desirable:
- Working towards chartership (not essential).
- Experience delivering RIBA Stage 1–4 fire strategies.
- Knowledge of the Building Safety Act, façade remediation, and EWS compliance.
- Exposure to high-profile commercial, residential, or heritage projects.
- Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety, or a related discipline.
