Summary

Job Purpose
The Playgroup Leader will be responsible for the weekly running of Tommy’s Tots playgroup sessions, ensuring safe, stimulating play and to provide for the needs of the whole child. The successful candidate will have a passion for children and a commitment to fostering and encouraging the overall aims and objectives of The Parish Trust. The successful candidate will foster the Christian ethos of the charity in the playgroup, planning suitable themes for each session that both incorporate a Christian message and link in with child developmental milestones.

Hours: 4 p/w (Tuesdays 8:30-11:30am and one hour preparation to be taken at the successful candidate’s choice) at £12.60 p/h. Potential for hours to expand into other areas.
Contract: Fixed Term (1 year) with possibility of permanence
Reports to: Youth & Children’s Programme Manager
Location: Trethomas Life Centre, Heol yr Ysgol, Trethomas, Caerphilly, CF83 8FL

Main Responsibilities
Setting up toys and activities, preparing the room.
Ensuring health and safety, removing obstacles, and making the hall safe
Setting up tea/coffee and refreshments for both adults and children
Overall responsibility for registering and signing children in, and taking payment
Fostering a welcoming, communal environment at each session
Enlisting the help of volunteers and registering them with The Parish Trust
Integrating a Christian based theme in each session, including songs, stories, and reflection time
Promoting the group and the overall work of the charity.
Tidying and Cleaning away after each session, making sure the whole building is in a suitable condition for next use

Someone with proven experience and gifting with children’s work
A self starter and self motivated individual
Willing to plan and organise effectively
A good leader and team player

You may have…

A relevant qualification in childcare or children’s work
Experience of work (paid or voluntary) in a charity or Christian based organisation
Musical ability
Training in First Aid

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
