Summary

Reading Town Hall is looking for casual staff to join the Team, you’ll need to be able to work during bank holidays, weekends and evenings. If you would like to work at our beautiful venue, helping to host a variety of events or in our lovely café then this is the job for you! You’ll play a key part in setting up and supporting events, maintaining public areas, and helping to provide an exceptional experience for all who visit Reading Town Hall.

About the role:
Reading Town Hall is one of the town’s most iconic landmarks – home to a vibrant mix of cultural, civic, and community events. From weddings and concerts to corporate functions and exhibitions, our team ensures every event runs smoothly and that every visitor receives a warm welcome.

This is a varied role and where you will be required to work some shifts in our café, assisting our venues team with setting up and breaking down of rooms, bar work, waiting at weddings & dinners.

Your main duties will include:


Assist in the café, catering & bar service as required ensuring efficient cash handling.
Assisting with the set-up and clear-down of rooms for events, meetings, and functions.
Moving and arranging furniture and equipment safely and efficiently.
Supporting the day-to-day running of events, including customer assistance and basic cleaning.
Ensuring health and safety standards are met and the building is kept presentable at all times.
Providing excellent customer service to visitors, clients, and guests.

About you:
You’ll be someone who enjoys working in a varied, hands-on role and takes pride in delivering great service. You’ll need to be flexible, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Experience in a hospitality, events, or facilities role would be an advantage, but full training will be provided.

The following experience is required for this role:


Excellent Customer Service skills
Basic knowledge of Food & Hygiene regulations and Health & Safety responsibilities
Previous catering experience would be an advantage but not essential
