Summary

Class 1 Driver – The Timber Group Herringswell - Drive it. Deliver it. Keep the yard moving and the customers happy – you're the one behind the wheel making it all happen!

We’re a driven bunch, and that shows in everything we do.
We’re always looking for ways to do things better than we did yesterday – because being the first choice for our customers and a great place to work for our team is what we’re all about.

At The Timber Group, people matter. You’re recognised, respected, and remembered – and in return, it’s our people who earn the trust of customers, teammates and the communities we serve.

Our loyal customers stick with us because we build strong relationships. We listen, we deliver, and we go the extra mile to make sure they leave happy.

We’re on the lookout for a skilled Class 1 HGV Driver to take the wheel for long-haul and regional deliveries. You’ll be making sure goods get where they need to be safely and on time, driving an articulated vehicle with confidence. It’s a key role in our logistics team, helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes. If you’re someone who takes pride in great service, knows the road rules inside out, and enjoys being part of a supportive crew – we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll be Doing:

Safely driving a Class 1 HGV across local and long-distance routes
Loading and unloading goods with the right kit
Carrying out daily vehicle checks and flagging any issues
Keeping delivery records tidy and up to date
Sticking to road rules and transport regs
Staying in touch with dispatch and warehouse teams
Making sure deliveries arrive on time and in great condition

We’re happy to explore flexible working options. Feel free to chat with us about it during the interview. While we might not be able to meet every request, we’ll always listen with an open mind - and there’s no judgment in asking.

What You’ll Bring:

Experience behind the wheel of an HGV is essential, you’ll need a valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV licence, along with your Driver CPC and digital tachograph card - and knowing your way around UK roads and driving regulations is a big plus. We’re looking for someone who’s confident working independently, keeps on top of time and brings great communication and customer service skills to the table. You’ll need to be physically fit for manual loading and unloading, and happy to pitch in with other tasks when needed. Safety’s a priority, so sticking to health and safety guidelines is key. Bonus points if you’ve done multi-drop deliveries or know a bit about basic vehicle maintenance!

What’s in it for you:

We believe great work should be recognised and rewarded. Here’s what you can expect:

23 days’ holiday, plus bank holidays (31 days per year)
Company bonus scheme, based on performance
Contributory pension and life assurance
Discounts on high street retailers, supermarkets, restaurants, gyms and cinemas
Colleague discount across our group brands
Attraction and travel discounts
Training and development programmes to support your growth

We offer on-the-job training and opportunities to work towards recognised qualifications, including apprenticeships.

At Huws Gray, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce makes us stronger, smarter and better at serving our customers.

We’re proud to be an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to creating a respectful and inclusive workplace, whether you’re based in one of our branches, on the road or in one of our offices.

If you need any adjustments to support you through the application or interview process, please let us know.
