Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Cook to join our friendly team at Briarcroft Care Home, a specialist dementia care home dedicated to providing nutritious, delicious meals that bring comfort and joy to our residents.
About the Role:
As our Cook, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our residents by preparing balanced, tasty meals — including texture-modified and pureed diets for those with swallowing difficulties. You’ll work closely with our care team to ensure all meals are prepared safely, attractively, and in accordance with individual dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in line with menu plans and dietary requirements
- Create appetising and visually appealing pureed meals using safe, person-centred techniques
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in the kitchen
- Support themed meal days and celebrations to make dining a special experience
- Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure residents’ preferences and nutritional needs are met
**About You:**
- Previous experience cooking in a care setting (dementia experience desirable)
- Skilled in preparing pureed and texture-modified diets (desirable)
- Understanding of food hygiene, allergens, and safe kitchen practices (SFBB)
- Warm, reliable, and passionate about making a difference through good food
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) preferred
