Summary
This is an important and exciting role within a high-profile, independent non-departmental public body. As a Casework Officer you will play a vital role in promoting the BARs, and engage directly with senior stakeholders, Commissioners, and the public.
This role would suit an individual who is intellectually curious, has an innovative and systems-thinking mindset, possesses sound judgement, can critically assess information and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Managing a caseload of requests for advice from the most senior Civil Servants across government about the application of the Business Appointment Rules;
Building relationships with those Civil Servants, the relevant departments and other stakeholders across government, and with external commercial entities, to gather information required to inform casework;
Analysing that information, referencing the relevant policy and working collaboratively with colleagues to develop advice on the application of the Rules;
Supporting Civil Service Commissioners in considering and approving that advice;
Drafting responses to requests covering that advice and preparing it for publication, where applicable;
Drafting other correspondence as commissioned by the Grade 7 Head of Team and the SEO Casework Manager;
Supporting the SEO/Grade 7 on innovation and setting up new processes;
Working collaboratively across the team, sharing learning and improving team policy;
Supporting the design and delivery of an audit function at SCS1 and below level for BARs cases; and
Supporting assessments at Departmental level of compliance with the BARs.
