Summary

The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports.

The Science, Technology, Research and Analysis (STAR) Group sits at the heart of the Home Office. The group ensures the best evidence and analysis are used to address the strategic issues facing the department. We also provide the science, technology, data, and international insights and collaboration capabilities to drive delivery.

As an Associate Technology Delivery Manager, you will join a team and support the delivery of technology products and services – particularly in Microsoft Power Business Intelligence and related services. You will help to set up your team for success and engage with stakeholders and suppliers, helping to build successful relationships across and beyond the organisation. You will help the team to remove blockers and inefficiencies, and continually seek new ways of working, leading to better outcomes.

Joining the Home Office Technology Delivery community, you will share knowledge and experience with colleagues across the department and wider Government, building skills and helping to apply good practice and standards.

You will support the UK’s security and prosperity through the products and services that you help to deliver.

The Performance Reporting & Analysis Unit (PRAU) is part of the Home Office Analysis & Insight Directorate within the Science, Technology, Research and Analysis group (STAR). We support Ministers, the Executive Committee, Policy and Operational leads and other analytical functions with the management information (MI) that they need, as well as producing data for publication and other forms of external release.

The Unit also provides advice and support to others in the Department on how to make best use of performance information and is leading on the transformation of MI systems and capabilities, using modern technologies and tools to improve the insight available. Our focus is providing reporting and analysis of performance relating to immigration and passports but there is a much broader demand across the Department for access to tooling.

This post provides an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting customers within the Home Office and beyond with a federated access model to tooling such as Power Business Intelligence (and other Microsoft services), to provide insightful and accurate management information.

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Help build clear processes and rules for how new requests are handled and approved.
  • Work with others to understand needs, tackle problems, and deliver tech solutions.
  • Work with others to build project plans, spot and tackle problems that could slow things down, and support the project to deliver on time, within budget, and meeting the required standards, supporting development of a PBI implementation rollout plan .
  • Develop and share insights and dashboards with senior stakeholders and give practical advice and recommendations to support decision making.
  • Help people to work together effectively as a team and support collaboration towards the team's goals. Raise issues that impact the health of the team and suggest improvements.
  • Work and communicate with Learning & Development, (L&D) Change & Engagement, and Contract Management colleagues to design and deliver training, communications and engagement plans, build strong stakeholder relationships, and track supplier performance (supporting the commercial lead).
  • Support creation and running of PBI “community of practice” and contribute to the Home Office Delivery community.

Working pattern

This role is available on a full-time basis with the option of compressed hours working. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 4 days/30 hours per week due to business requirements.

Travel

Travel to other listed hub locations (Croydon, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield) on an approximately quarterly basis will be required (subject to business requirements). Travel costs incurred for business need will be reimbursed in line with Home Office travel policy.
