Summary

To offer a warm welcome to all our visitors, ensuring excellent visitor service is offered at all times. To ensure galleries and public areas are a safe environment for everyone and always presented at their best, and to ensure the care and security of our collections and listed buildings. You will be inclusive and caring towards our visitors and play a key role in promoting West Cheshire Museums’ ethos.

This is an operational role that requires flexibility and will include weekend, bank holiday and evening working, which will be paid at an enhanced rate. Shifts will typically be between the hours of 9am and 5.15pm. This is a Casual role, with no fixed or guaranteed regular hours.

We are looking for team players who can deliver excellent visitor experiences. Previous experience within the visitor attraction / cultural / heritage sector is preferable, but not essential. 

Visitor Assistants are expected to carry out the full range of duties in this job description, but specialist interest areas and skillsets may be developed and deployed to the maximum benefit of the museum service.  

Notwithstanding the detail in this job description, the job holder will undertake such work as may be determined by the Manager from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the Principal Responsibilities of the job.

This role is designated as:

Fixed: Workers are based at a Council office or other building because their work can only be carried out in that location.
Although you will mainly be based at Grosvenor Museum, you may be required to attend meetings/training at other West Cheshire Museums or Council sites.

Many services and customers span across the Borough and therefore you may be required to work at any location in Cheshire West and Chester.
