Summary
To manage a high-quality dispensary to ensure a safe, accurate and efficient service making best use of staff skills and resource. To contribute to the management and development of the outpatient pharmacy service by promoting innovation and streamlined working practices and implementing agreed changes. To manage the dispensary processes and workflow, co-ordinating with other pharmacy staff to meet the needs of the service, both clinically and operationally. To monitor dispensary performance using the Prescription Tracking System and directing workflow as necessary to ensure compliance with agreed targets. To develop dispensary services and implement change when necessary. To co-ordinate and provide training to other members of the pharmacy team as appropriate. To ensure training records of all staff are kept up to date. To ensure good working practices and procedures are in place, adhered to and regularly updated to reflect current work practice, legislation and local policy. To assist in the control, supply and denaturing of Controlled Drugs. To develop a programme of Accuracy Checking for Dispensing Assistants. To ensure appropriate stock control and records are maintained. To receive and issue work and handle prescription payments according to SOPs. Investigate and resolve customer complaints and enquiries. Monitor and investigate dispensing errors and near miss data to identify trends and develop SOPs and staff training to prevent further errors. To be aware of current national issues regarding technician development and legislation. To participate in other duties appropriate to the grade at the request of the relevant manager.
