Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Grounds Maintenance Operative to care for and maintain laurel hedges, ornamental bushes, and trees across landscaped areas. This role is essential to preserving the health, appearance, and safety of green spaces in public, private, or commercial settings.

Key Responsibilities
• Prune, trim, and shape laurel hedges and ornamental bushes to maintain healthy growth and visual appeal.
• Carry out seasonal tasks such as mulching, feeding, and pest control.
• Perform tree maintenance including crown lifting, deadwood removal, and minor pruning.
• Identify signs of disease, damage, or infestation and report or treat accordingly.
• Operate and maintain hand tools and powered equipment (e.g., hedge trimmers, chainsaws, loppers).
• Clear green waste and maintain tidy shrub beds and tree bases.
• Follow site-specific maintenance schedules and safety protocols.

Requirements
• Previous experience in horticulture, arboriculture, or grounds maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of laurel species and general shrub/tree care.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Good physical fitness and attention to detail.
• Understanding of health and safety practices, including safe use of tools.
• Chainsaw or tree climbing certification desirable (for advanced tree work).
• Full UK driving licence may be required for mobile roles.
