A leading UK-based power generation company is seeking a Mechanical Technician to ensure the mechanical integrity, maintenance, and performance of designated power stations. This role is critical in maintaining safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations while supporting the transition to a low-carbon future.

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, you'll take ownership of a range of mechanical maintenance activities - from planning and executing work to managing contractors and delivering high-quality, safe, and cost-effective maintenance solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Delivering safe, reliable, and efficient mechanical maintenance across the power station
- Preparing method statements and risk assessments for planned works
- Managing contractors and supervising during plant overhauls and inspections
- Supporting 24/7 operations, ensuring maintenance plans are achieved safely, on time, and within budget
- Taking a proactive approach to fault diagnosis and problem-solving
- Contributing to process safety KPIs, budgets, and cost management
- Procuring services and materials within company policies and standards
- Maintaining excellent communication and reporting standards
- Occasionally travelling to other UK Thermal sites as required
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience in the maintenance of a CHP plant or within a large-scale process industry
- Educated to HNC standard in an Engineering discipline
- Strong computer literacy skills
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation
- Focused on achieving results and keen to develop skills
- Self-motivated with a flexible, can-do attitude
- Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills
- Ability to analyse and diagnose problems logically under pressure
- A commitment to continuous learning and sharing knowledge with others
Desirable:
- IOSH NEBOSH Entry Level Qualification
- Demonstrated team working skills
- Knowledge of budgets and contract management
- Experience in the principles of safe working and compliance with HSE legislation
