Summary

SEND Teacher - Complex & SEMH Needs - Wigan - Step Teachers

Start: January 2026 or earlier

Pay: Up to £230/day for first 12 weeks, MPS + SEN1 from 13th week (ECTs welcome)
Hours: Full-time | Mon-Fri | 8:30am-3:30pm
Contract: Temp-to-Perm



We're working with a dynamic specialist high school in Wigan that supports young people aged 11-19 with a range of complex learning needs, including Autism, social and emotional challenges, and associated additional needs. The school provides a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that focuses on personal development, emotional wellbeing, and preparing pupils for life beyond school.



As a SEN Teacher, you'll take responsibility for a small secondary-age class, delivering a highly personalised curriculum that balances academic learning with life skills, communication, and social development. You'll use creative, flexible approaches to engage students working at a wide range of ability levels, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of achievement. You'll work closely with specialist support staff, pastoral leads, and external professionals to ensure every young person receives consistent, holistic support.

What you'll need to succeed:
• QTS or QTLS, with experience of teaching pupils with complex or SEMH needs
• Understanding of Autism, social communication, and behaviour regulation strategies
• Strong classroom management rooted in empathy and structure
• Ability to create engaging, differentiated lessons that inspire confidence and curiosity
• A positive, reflective approach and a commitment to professional growth

• QTS, QTLS or overseas equivalent
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
