Summary
Commercial Manager | Glasgow | Full Time | Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm | £55,000 per annum + Commission
Our client is a family-owned business, trading for over 40 years. They are a leading name in sustainable waste management and recycling, operating from a state-of-the-art base in Cumbernauld, Scotland.
They are currently seeking a Commercial Manager responsible for driving the development and execution of the company’s growth strategy. Through the leadership and management of business development activities, this role will ensure the delivery of revenue growth, improved gross margins, and increased net profit. Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, the Commercial Manager will contribute to achieving operational and strategic objectives.
Are you the right person for the job?
• Formal business qualification or equivalent professional experience
• Extensive experience in sales, business development, or commercial management within a commercial environment
• Proven track record in leading and developing high-performing teams
• Background in the recycling, environmental, facilities management, or food industry is desirable
• Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, reporting, and project costing
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
• Confident in presenting and pitching technical or service-based solutions at the executive level
• Highly organised with strong time management and leadership skills
• Resilient, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Willingness to travel between company sites as required
What will your role look like?
• Provide strategic leadership to the commercial team, developing and implementing growth strategies
• Identify and secure new business opportunities while maintaining strong existing client relationships
• Report to the Managing Director and Board on commercial performance and progress
• Recruit, manage, and develop a team of business development professionals
• Lead weekly team meetings to share best practices and identify new opportunities
• Oversee marketing and sales activities to increase visibility and market engagement
• Manage key accounts, strengthening and expanding commercial partnerships
