Summary
The post holders must possess a thorough understanding of the technologies and methodologies relevant to Automated Biochemistry. The post holder must demonstrate effective leadership and management capabilities while working collaboratively to achieve shared goals.
The successful candidate will predominately be based at Homerton and St. Bartholomew Hospitals. It is necessary to work flexibly across different teams and partnered laboratories. Successful Band 7 candidates MUST be registered with the HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist AND hold the following
• CPSM Log book (Clinical Biochemistry) if qualified before 2003.
OR
• Registration portfolio IBMS (Clinical Biochemistry 2003 to 2004) and Diploma in Biomedical Science IBMS (Blood Sciences 2005).
OR
• Specialist Diploma IBMS (Clinical Biochemistry 2005 onwards)
And
• Fellowship (Clinical Chemistry), MSc Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification at MSc level.

The post holder must be conversant with the technologies and methodologies specific to the core and specialist Biochemistry Laboratory. Will retain a supervisory role in the sections of the department appropriate to their competency and able to carry out/manage the technical and scientific tasks for which they are responsible.
Have responsibilities for the support, maintenance and development of the quality, learning and health and safety, Management Systems within designated work area. To work collaboratively between work areas and networked laboratories. Participate in laboratory in the laboratory work roster.
The post holder must be able to provide effective leadership and management.
The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health.
The Pathology Partnership was formed in May 2021. Between 2021 and 2024 the Partnership undertook a complex transformation programme to establish a single network of laboratories, underpinned by a single Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and single Quality Management System (QMS).
The Partnership has a main hub laboratory at the Royal London Hospital and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at the six other hospital sites served by the Partnership.
The Partnership has three operational divisions:
· Blood Sciences including Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry
· Microbiology and Virology
· Cellular Pathology and Cancer Diagnostics
The 2024/25 total operating costs across the Partnership were c. £121m per annum with a workforce establishment of circa. 860 WTE.
