Summary
Functional Skills Tutor
We are seeking a Functional Skills Tutor based in Wallsend to deliver Maths and English tuition to KS4 learners and adults who need support in developing essential skills for work, education, or everyday life.
As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will plan and deliver personalised 1:1 lessons tailored to close gaps in learners knowledge, build their confidence, and support them in achieving accredited qualifications. This role is perfect for experienced educators or tutors who want to offer focused, impactful teaching outside a traditional classroom environment.
Many learners may have previously struggled with or disengaged from formal education, so your role will include re-engaging them in learning and helping provide structure and motivation.
Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor learner progress and ensure effective, tailored support.

Rate of pay: Up to GBP30 per hour
Hours: Flexible, up to 15 hours per week, per learner

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience delivering Maths and/or English tuition, ideally with Functional Skills learners or similar
At least 6 months experience working in an educational setting or as a tutor
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
Have the right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate with child barred list, registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for one
Provide two professional references related to education or tutoring covering the last two years
