Summary

⏰ Hours: 37.5 hours per week (site-based role)
? Shift Pattern: 5 days over 7
? Shift Times:
Early Shift: 06:00 – 14:00
Late Shift: 10:00 – 18:00
Weekend: 10:00 – 18:00

Breakfast: 07:00 – 07:45
Lunch: 12:30 – 13:15
Evening Meal: 16:45 – 17:30
Weekend Brunch: 10:00 – 12:30
Weekend Evening Meal: 16:45 – 17:30
We’re currently recruiting a motivated Chef to join our team at the Junior Ranks Mess, Beachley Barracks, as part of the ESS – Compass Group. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for great food and service within a military environment. ?
ResponsibilitiesPrepare, cook, and serve high-quality meals for military personnel
Support menu planning and food production to meet service standards
Maintain excellent levels of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety
Work effectively as part of a friendly and supportive kitchen team ?
Assist with stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation
Relevant catering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
Experience in a previous chef or catering role, ideally in large-scale or contract catering
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene preferred)
Positive attitude and team-focused approach
Newly qualified chefs are encouraged to apply — full training and support provided ?
