Job description

Job purpose
To support a 9-year-old boy in Bury St Edmunds within his home and taking him out and about.

About me
We are busy parents of 5 children, ranging from 2 to 9 years old. We are looking for someone to provide support to our eldest son (9 years old) during the school holidays, initially this would be in our home then once you get to know him progressing to taking him out on local trips.
Our son is a lively lad with a lot of personality, we are looking for someone who is friendly and proactive, who will be able to connect with him.
He loves going out in the car, this is his favourite thing to do at the moment. He likes watching films (i.e. Toy Story) and making food (i.e. homemade pizzas). He also enjoys watching videos on YouTube such as:
Anything to do to with food (i.e. Greggs or Burger King)
Driving around the countryside
City walks/country walks
London buses
You will be employed by us as his parents, in the first instance you will report to my wife (mother) and if she is not available you would then report to me (father).

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Supporting within the home
Supporting out and about on local trips
Taking him out in the car
Always being vigilant as he can sometimes runaway
He may sometime need reminding and/or support to go to the toilet
Being proactive and acting on your own initiative when supporting him

Personal Specification

Essential Criteria
Experience working with children with additional needs (personal experience also acceptable)
Friendly and outgoing
Patient and caring
Good oral communication skills
Driving licence and access to own vehicle

Desirable Criteria
Experience working with children with autism

Summary terms and conditions
Hours, days and times of work: 6 hours available per week (during school holidays). *Some flexibility but would need to be worked on an agreed day from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm. To be discussed at the point of interview
Pay rate: £14.00 per hour
Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
