The Head of Road Infrastructure Technology is responsible for shaping and driving government activity around the technologies used in today’s road networks, as well as preparing for future needs, for example connected and autonomous vehicles.

The successful post holder will lead the development and delivery of national vehicle and data strategies, particularly in areas including connected service definition and architecture.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Leading significant capital funded programmes. Managing and delivering programmes of activity internally and managing the provision of grant funding to external bodies for the development of connected and data services.
  • Managing programmes of research and specifying, procuring and managing the work of external consultancies and agencies. Leading finance and reporting of activities within Departmental research programmes.
  • Leading European and international activities including representing UK interests at world and European Intelligent Transport Systems Congresses.
  • Leading international technical and standards alignment and managing UK involvement in ERTICO, the European ITS Body, and alignment of ITS Activities within the UK through management of the STREETWISE Group.
  • Managing and developing the Transport Technology Forum (TTF), a key stakeholder forum for promoting roads based Manage TTF research programme and conferences, website, forums and specialist technical groups.
