We are recruiting 8 vacancies into multiple roles to support our work engaging in planning reform, infrastructure planning, growth and environment policy aligned to the government’s plan for change.
We are seeking multiple Advisors in our Planning and Place teams to work across a variety of workstreams and programmes including:
• Shaping the delivery of the Environment Agency’s planning delivery responsibilities
• Strategic Infrastructure Planning
• New Towns Programme
• Planning Policy and Planning Reform
• Industrial Strategy and Clean Energy Strategy, including Industrial Clusters
• Local Nature Recovery Strategy
• New Homes Accelerator
• Engaging with government departments and Office for Investment on government priority development schemes
The successful candidates will work across Planning & Place but be based within one of the three sub-teams:
• Growth strategy and programmes
• Planning advice
• Planning service transformation and delivery
While geographically dispersed, we excel at remote collaboration and work and collaborate in person at our offices across the country.
The team
You’ll join our supportive and professional Planning and Place Team within the Environment & Business Directorate. We lead on sustainable places and integrated environmental and spatial planning; technical leadership; and workforce planning for Sustainable Places.
In E&B we promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued. We use evidence, expertise, engagement, and innovation to enhance and support delivery, influence policy, legislation, and secure resources
Experience/skills required
We are looking for candidates with a broad range of skills and experience including:
• Professional experience, or interest with transferable skills, of working in the planning and/or environment profession or sector (Note some roles will require RTPI eligibility, but not all)
• An understanding of the organisation’s role in spatial planning and growth, and a desire to shape our priorities in this space
• Experience of working in planning policy, development management or infrastructure planning at a local, regional or national scale
• Project and/or programme management experience
• The ability to prioritise a complex workload in a dynamic work environment
• The ability to comfortably work in teams and independently
• The ability to work in an agile way
• Proven effective communication and excellent organisational skills
