Who We Look For
Midland Mencap has an exciting opportunity to join our growing organisation as a multi-trade handyman.
The successful candidate will have strong inter-personal skills, a can-do attitude and be confident in dealing with a wide variety of jobs.
If you enjoy property maintenance and have a willingness to work as a team with the aim of helping to grow a expanding organisation, then this is an ideal role for you.
Job Responsibilities
Undertaking general decorating, tiling, basic electrics (wiring sockets etc), basic plumbing (tap changes etc), basic carpentry (hanging doors, fitting locks / fixing bath panels), landscaping, fencing and property/garden clearance work and general bathroom and kitchen installation.
Act as a competent person as directed and appointed.
The role will be to work within a team to maintain Midland Mencap properties and our citizen’s residential properties within the Birmingham area.
There is ample opportunity to progress within the organisation as it continues to grow.
Observance of Midland Mencap’s Equal Opportunities Policy will be required.
We operate a strictly No Smoking policy.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
Essential
• Must have own van or similar and Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle (to including Business Cover Use and Motor Insurance Policy).
• Own tools.
• Very good/fluent verbal English and basic written English.
• Good communication skills.
• Basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, tiling, decorating etc.
• Excellent time management and organisation
• Basic numeracy and literacy.
• Basic IT skills i.e. use of email, internet.
• Ability to organise and plan a job.
• Ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
• Be able to use your own initiative.
Desirable
• Basic Health & Safety knowledge
• Basic First Aid knowledge
• Previous experience within the property maintenance sector.
