Summary
Cook required for busy cafe and event space in Maybole.
Experience Required:
Background in a professional kitchen or catering environment.
Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
Experience in stock control, ordering, and menu support.
Ability to lead, train, and support staff and volunteers.
Strong organisational skills and flexibility to adapt in a busy setting.
Customer-focused approach with good problem-solving skills.
Duties include:
- Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the kitchen
- Prepping and preparing food, ensuring high standards of food service
- Reviewing menu and preparing inventory
- Ordering food for the kitchen working with Front of House Manager
- Monitoring food production
- Supervise, train and delegate tasks to catering assistants/ volunteers/ work experience – to include food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, cooking where relevant experience
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene and safety within kitchen
- Keep up to date records of temperature sheets and stock rotation
- Step in to other roles if needed supporting all staff- i.e. coffee making, till, dishes etc.
- Working with Catering Manager to prepare menus, organise events and bookings.
- Working with staff to handle customer requests, resolve any issues, food shortages or specials
- Ensure kitchen equipment is working correctly and reporting any faults to catering manager immediately
