A well-established and nurturing Alternative Provision in Chesterfield (S41) is seeking a resilient, compassionate, and physically capable Teaching Assistant to join their team as a Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant.
This setting supports young people who are on the verge of exclusion or have been excluded from mainstream education. The school provides a structured, therapeutic environment designed to help pupils re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence, and develop essential life and social skills. Your Role
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social needs
- Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
- Support pupils' academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver personalised learning plans
- Contribute to behaviour management and therapeutic support strategies
- Serve as a positive, consistent role model for students who have faced significant barriers to learning
About You
- Experience working in SEN, alternative provision, PRU, or youth support roles
- Resilient, fit, and able - confident supporting students who may present challenging behaviours
- Strong behaviour management skills and emotional stability under pressure
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is vital.
- Confident working both independently and as part of a supportive team
