Summary
Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Warrington-based two-form entry primary school that is at the heart of its local community as they require support within their lower KS2 resource provision. This school is looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to support a small class of 10 pupils with profound ASD and non-verbal. This is a full-time long-term temporary contract (32.5 hours per week) that may lead to a permanent appointment for the right individual.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining a highly experienced resource team consisting of an extremely supportive class teacher and 3 teaching assistants. You will work alongside your new colleagues to promote a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment for your new pupils by tailoring your approach to best suit their needs and taking a pupil-led approach to the curriculum. You will play an integral part in the education of pupils with low-functioning ASD and non-verbal, delivering bespoke interventions in speech and language and behaviours to best suit their criteria. You will accurately record and maintain data, giving accurate feedback on their progress and additional requirements. As the majority of pupils within this class are non-verbal, you will take the lead on speech and language support, delivering basic SALT and utilising communicative aids (Makaton, regulation cards, etc) to bolster their understanding. A small number of pupils also require support with personal care.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be willing to undergo a full enhanced DBS check, have recent relevant classroom experience, and:
- Have experience supporting profound SEN (ASD and non-verbal is advantageous)
- Be willing to commit to a full-time long-term contract
- Have experience using Makaton
What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits that include:
- Free training
- Upfront cost of DBS covered
- Competitive rate of pay
- Long-term contract
- Company pension scheme
- Full holiday entitlement
- Potential permanent contact
- Access to exclusive vacancies
- Refer a Friend scheme
