Summary
The Technical Superintendent is responsible for all asset protection, maintenance and repair activities associated with the RSACT Contract (Range Safety and Air Crew Training Vessels). Ensuring that vessels comply with operational requirements and are maintained in line with Company, Client and statutory standards within allocated budget.
Liaising with the Senior Operations Manager to ensure consistency and best practice in asset upkeep, reporting and development throughout the Company.
Building effective relationships with external stakeholders to instill trust and confidence in the Company.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
Safety
1.1 Promote a strong safety culture – Safe Out, Safe Home, ensuring all work is conducted in full compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policies, associated site safety regulations and good industry practice
1.2 Be proactive with the Company Safety Management System and demonstrate safe working practices during all work activities
1.3 Good understanding of marine regulations including but not limited to Maritime and Coastguard Agency, IMO and Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality regulations
1.4 Responsible and accountable for safety reporting within the technical team and for technical issues and assist in issues related to assets
Financial
2.1 Promote ideas which will increase efficiency, cut cost or time without loss of service standards and present to line manager
2.2 Assist with preparation of annual vessel maintenance budgets and ensure compliance
2.3 Work with Operations Manager and Provide quotes for drydocking for internal and external vessels
Staff
3.1 Responsible for the line management of all engineers in relation to performance and development
3.2 Develop staff and assist Marine Operations Manager with the Performance Management Framework
3.3 Manage team in line with Company absence management policy and procedures
Active involvement in induction training and support of all staff
Customer
4.1 Be a role model to your team showing professionalism in all interactions with existing and prospective customers
4.2 Build effective relationships with external stakeholders
4.3 Attend internal and external meetings as required to provide section updates
Operations
5.1 Effective maintenance of the fleet of vessels
5.2 Ensure all maintenance activities are delivered within agreed timescales and on budget
5.3 Ensure full records are kept for all maintenance activities
5.4 Liaise with Operations Manager, Senior Operations Manager and vessel Masters and Engineers on all reported defects
5.5 Ensure vessel coding is maintained in line with the Workboat Code
5.6Participate in on call breakdown reporting rota as and when required
Write weekly/monthly maintenance reports
Qualifications
*Class 2 or 3 Engineering Certificate (Motor) or relevant technical qualification (essential)
*STCW qualified (desirable)
*Appointed Person (desirable)
Knowledge & Experience
*Experience of working in a marine environment and ashore (essential)
*Confident leadership, self-driven and team working (essential)
*Composed, professional and resilient under pressure (essential)
*Experience of working with planned maintenance systems and defect reporting (essential)
*Experienced in people management, development and organisation (desirable)
