Summary
Senior Design Engineer
A national house builder have a requirement for a Senior Design Engineer to join their Design team overseeing Civils Design packages and technical approvals for new build developments
About the Senior Design Engineer role
Reporting to the Design Manager you will be involved with site evaluation, engineering design, site investigations and appointment and coordination of external consultants. Duties to include:
- Work with the Design Manager (Civils) and Land Department on new sites for the business.
- Advise Land Department on Technical viability of new sites.
- Assist in the production of layouts and technical report for Land Appraisals; and required working drawings.
- Prepare outline engineering schematics for Land Appraisals.
- Brief and commission site investigations, topographical survey and other assessment reports on land acquired
- Undertake road and sewer designs and design all finished levels for a development to local and national standards.
- Initial negotiations/enquiries with statutory bodies on environmental, drainage, highways and other engineering issues when apprising land.
- Manage technical submissions for approval by statutory authorities (e.g. S104, S38, S278).
- Obtain statutory approvals and progress agreements to completion.
- Issue engineering information to Commercial, Construction and Sales departments.
- Fee negotiation and appointment of consultants.
- Prepare Sales and Legal information e.g. Conveyance plans and M colours.
- Assist the team in the Public open space, S38, S104 adoptions.
- Manage and mentor junior members of the team.
Senior Design Engineer experience required:
- Experience using AutoCad and Microsoft Word and Excel, PDS, Site3D, Microdrainage/Flow
- Knowledge of Industry Regulation Standards
- Previous experience of valuing engineering designs
- Ability to work under pressure
- Problem solve and able to think outside the box
- Ability to manage their own time and monitor others in the team or consultants
- Organized with a commitment to meeting deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Credible, and comfortable in dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Reliable, dependable and determined
- Team player
- Ability to work under own initiative
