Job Introduction:

We are looking for a motivated Retail Manager to lead and manage retail operations at RAF Brize Norton, Carterton, OX18 3LX. You will drive retail performance, ensure high standards of service, and develop your team through performance reviews and training.

What you’ll do:
  • Plan, organise, and coordinate all retail and catering activities, including cafés and leisure areas.

  • Deliver and maintain high standards of service, hygiene, and food quality in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Manage budgets, stock, and cash control while driving commercial performance.

  • Conduct performance reviews and development plans for all direct reports.

  • Supervise day-to-day operations in the Junior Ranks Mess, cafés, and retail outlets.

  • Promote and manage functions, including planning, menus, and costing in conjunction with the catering team.

  • Ensure all team training, development, and compliance with IT systems (Kronos, Drive, CPOS) is completed.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Report issues, accidents, or near misses promptly and maintain a safe work environment.

  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by management.

What You Bring:

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar service industry role at a comparable level.

  • Strong numerical, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of health & safety and food safety regulations.

  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Proven experience in hospitality, including stock management, cash control, and customer service.

  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards.

  • Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to implement innovative solutions.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing client relationships.

  • Previous experience working in a military environment.
