About the role
A UK-based manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its technical design team. This role involves delivering system designs tailored to customer requirements and aligned with current legislation. The position offers exposure to a range of projects across engineering, commercial applications, and low-carbon technologies.
Role Overview
You'll work closely with internal sales teams and external clients to develop bespoke system designs from concept through to delivery. The role requires strong technical competence, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects within defined service-level timelines. While experience in residential heating is beneficial, candidates from broader Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Building Services, or Energy Systems backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop system designs to meet customer and project-specific requirements.
- Respond to technical enquiries and provide tailored solutions across a range of applications.
- Deliver design documentation and revisions in line with departmental SLAs.
- Support handover processes with performance data and technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and document control using Excel and other tools.
- Stay informed on UK and Ireland legislation and emerging technologies in the heating and energy sector.
- Create and maintain BIM models to support the product portfolio.
Candidate Profile
- HNC or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in CAD Design software
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders across technical and commercial functions.
- Highly numerate with strong data analysis and documentation skills.
- Collaborative working style with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
