Summary
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Lead Teacher of English to join our team in this vital, full-time, permanent role. This is a unique opportunity to shape the learning experiences of some of York's most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people across Key Stages 3 and 4 within our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting. The successful candidate will not only deliver engaging, specialist English teaching but also lead the English curriculum across the entire school (ages 5-16).
You must possess a deep understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), and be driven to create positive, empowering alternatives to the often-disengaging experiences our pupils have had in mainstream education.
As Danesgate develops its distributed leadership structure, the English Lead will be instrumental in driving school improvement, working collaboratively with a small team of English specialists and nurture teachers to embed key literacy skills across all Key Stages. If you are an energised team player ready to make a significant, positive impact on young lives, we encourage you to apply.
